My Last Unseen Letter to You

A supposed villain writes a letter to the hero.

You loved me until I broke you. I apologize for it, everyday. Though I know you do not hear. I keep watch over you. I always have. I have helpers. I know they are there for you, it is a comfort. At least when I am not watching you through them. I know you were thrown into the battle before you were ready. I’ve seen you cry yourself to sleep many nights from the responsibility I put on your shoulders. I know you’ve wondered where the bunnies and other animals come from. I put them there. To comfort you. I know, more then anyone, how much you need it. Everyone thinks it’s just you. That they are drawn to your love and innocence. I know the truth but I wanted them to see you the way you were before. Before me. I know what you are doing. I know where your journey ends. I’ve been preparing. The people think of me as a tyrant. I can’t remember if I did that on purpose or not. In any case, it will boost your reputation. They do not know, but I am making it easier for you. It’s the least I can do. When you come, and after I am gone, you will find everything ready. Only my most cruel laws need to be removed, everything else is good for them, though they do not see it yet. The main difference will just be that I am no longer there. One day you will realize, though it may take a while. Perhaps it will make you miss me. But it doesn’t matter. I will be gone. You will have what you have always deserved. I will be there for you, I promise, until the last moment. I will love you until I break.
