A Poem by Brett Forsythe
"

This is a song/poem about life and my views on it. To the same rhythm as the song "Unknown Soldier" by Breaking Benjamin.

"

Last in place,

My own race,

I’ll still win,

If I get to get to the finish,

Let’s rewind,

Turn back time,

Keep in mind,

I won’t get left behind,

I’m slowly losing time,

It’s always on my mind,

So how can I pretend, I’m fine?

Show me that this life,

Has purpose and a price,

Prove to me, and I’ll press on tonight.

Face your fears,

House of mirrors,

Is it clear?

Or tell me what do you see?

Roll the dice,

Jesus Christ,

Take my life,

I’ll be the sacrifice,

We’re slowly losing time,

It’s always on my mind,

So how can I pretend I’m fine?

Show me that this life,

Has purpose and a price,

Prove to me, and I’ll press on tonight.

Is death the price?

Key to life,

Live to die,

What do we fail to see?

Is it love?

Up above,

Is he here,

Walking among us?

We’re slowly losing time,

It’s always on my mind,

So how can I pretend I’m fine?

Show me that this life,

Has purpose and a price,

Prove to me, and I’ll press on tonight.

To end war?

Carnivore,

Take each other,

And fight until nothing’s left,

Look for more,

Ocean’s floor,

What’s in store?

But you keep dragging me to shore,

We’re slowly losing time,

It’s always on my mind,

So how can I pretend I’m fine?

Show me that this life,

Has purpose and a price,

Prove to me, and I’ll press on tonight.

Ignore grammar problems. If you haven't heard unknown soldier by Breaking Benjamin this will probably seem slightly weird. Keep in mind this is more of a song than a poem. Any comments are welcome :) Thanks!

OMG! That is totally a great song, and this is definitely inspired from it. :) This is really good, haha, I love Breaking Benjamin's lyrics. Try listening to Hero of War by Rise Against. :) That's a good one too.

This is really good, and leaves the reader actually asking themselves these questions. And quite honestly it makes me think of what I'll be asking myself come December when it's off to Basic Training and Tech school. Thanks for making me turn around and think. Fantastic write. :)
