The Confession

The Confession

A Poem by Brett Forsythe

Well I know it’s my fault, that we’re apart,

the truth is baby, you still own my heart,

Each night worsens, as I stay up alone,

all I think about is you, and this heart without a home,

How can I show you, prove to you I’ve changed?

I’m done hiding now, I admit that I’m to blame,

If only you could know, exactly how I feel,

cause baby after you, I know that love is real,

Do you remember, the summer at the lake?

We had a world of trust, but now you think I’m fake,

I’ve got something, that I need you to know,

baby I’ve tried so hard, but I just can’t let go,

How can I show you, prove to you I’ve changed?

I’m done hiding now, I admit that I’m to blame,

If only you could know, exactly how I feel,

cause baby after you, I know that love is real,

Tears run down my face, while I’m alone in the dark,

I can’t help but wonder, who’s head’s against your heart,

I've messed up, but I’ve paid for my mistakes,

The pain of love seems so much worse, when a broken hearts at stake,

How can I show you, prove to you I’ve changed?

I’m done hiding now, I admit that I’m to blame,

If only you could know, exactly how I feel,

cause baby after you, I know that love is real,

All I can do is pray you’ll be alright,

And ask the man upstairs to bring you home tonight,

I’ve been told many things, like love’s a losing game,

But babe you’re the only one, where the love is worth the pain.

It's good, and before you read the Author's Note, you kind of sing the words in your head. I have one suggestion for you, maybe change "but I’ve paid for my mistakes" to but I've paid my dues.

Before even reading your Authors note.. I was kind of singing this in my head. I'm like this could be a really good rap. Hopefully, that's not an offense to you, but I had a little beat going on in my head thinking I could buy this on Itunes :) I write a lot of lyrics - a lot! You are good with your emotions and how you feel.. very good piece. 100
