Mother MineA Poem by Foxx FalconA poem for the woman who gave me lifeMother Mine When the world did not know me Loved was I Safe within the vessel of thee, Oh Mother Mine.
When first I knew the world, It began in your eyes. When first I learned to love It began in your heart When first I knew fear It was soothed in your arms You are my beginning Oh Mother mine
A shadow you are behind me Casting a warning of all that you have known A light you are before me Shining with the dreams you’ve carried A stone you remain beside me Strength from which I borrow when the Now is too much All of these things and more you are Oh Mother mine
Be there a greater hero Then she who gives of her being to new life? Selflessness defines you Oh Mother mine
And who am I? She who has shared with you all that might be had Who finds shade in your shadow, Inspiration in your light, And strength in your presence? I am but a promise you made to Tomorrow; An extension that might live To give a little more, Go a little further I am she who loves you more than any other I am forever Daughter yours.
