I plead guilty
To a crime they invented
Only to draw forth the silence
Of their judgment
Let them pretend to know me
Let them place upon my shoulders their God
I can take a little extra weight
If it gives them a little peace
Come dawn my body will burn
To draw a close to their heavy night
I can no longer weep for them
I haven't any stories to tell
My legacy will be a stain
Upon their history
Something they may again point to
When their children question
The validity of their claims
Once one plead guilty
They will say
And laid before God's judgment
