Truth

Truth

A Poem by Emma Lee-Riviera
"

It fell onto my keyboard so I went with it.

"
who is I--

dust that spirals lazily in the sunlight
a lost spool of thread already replaced
sunlight filtered through a filigree of leaves
a silver spoon left to tarnish

what does it mean--

humanity in the face of adversity
a tearful prayer finally answered
kindness in a storm of anguish
shelter from a negative host

We----

mighty as an ant
swift as a bee
thorough as a spider
gentle as a butterfly
(I choose My Truth
and together We connect)

it is not a matter of who We are-
but rather what We will stand for--
an I is only a shout into the void---
but We is a chorus in harmony----
the dissonance of the raging I-----
irate voice among concordant We----
will not detract from Our melody---
the untuned I will not silence Truth--
no single note can destroy Justice-

no lone voice can change You(r Truth)

I see, I hear, I feel... the minute vibrations of a frozen puddle of estivating frogs, dreaming of a spring to come, dreaming of the magnificent chorus of croaking, that symphony of sounds that ensure the next generation will be what it should; liberated, declaring, "You(r Truth)" to the world.

Mighty fine poem, young lady. Might fine.
