Nerves

Nerves

A Poem by Forgotten

A bead of sweat clogs in my brow,
My hands shake and my body shudders,
No matter how many times I gulp,
The obstruction seems not to budge.

Hot like embers my stomach burns,
Churning and groaning it knows my pain,
My skin like ice,
Goosebumps cover me.

My heart flutters,
Feeling ready to burst,
My breathing grows shallow,
Hindering me to exhaustion.
