Freedoms Door

Freedoms Door

A Poem by Forgotten

I say goodbye to the life I have known,
Farewell to my suffocation,
Long have I suffered under the hands of democracy,
The very hands that doomed me,
Here I stand at freedoms door,
Standing above the world that birthed me,
Feeling nothing in my hollowed existence,
No tears will fall for me,
No mourning to occur.

Let my memory be frozen in time,
Unable to survive the winters ahead,
For what I have equates to the lack of being,
No flesh to remember that I am human,
Free of pain and fire,
No longer will I watch my world burn,
No longer will I witness the eyes of the suffering,
The disappointment you harbour means nothing now,
Let my body succumb to the fall.

When I reach my summit I shall pray for deliverance,
As I fall should I forgive those who damned me?
I am mortal till' I reach rock bottom,
When the winds cease to enter my tomb,
Do not pursue me,
Let me lay as I ask,
I shall seek sanctuary at freedoms door.

Forgotten ... Your words are always heart-touching..

A well described poem about death. I like the metaphor of the door of freedom. My favourite lines are:

Free of pain and fire,
No longer will I watch my world burn,
No longer will I witness the eyes of the suffering,
The disappointment you harbour means nothing now,
Let my body succumb to the fall.

Well done. Keep writing! Xx.

"Farewell to my suffocation" I love that line, nice work kid. Strong emotions here and it really forces you into thinking.

This piece evokes some very strong emotions, and encourages some very intense soul-searching. There is an everyman feel to your words here, it is a poem with universal appeal but is definitely conducive to personal introspection and interpretation. Nicely done.

The end. It's clear. No heart ache, no remorse, It's the end it this poem with a closure that portrays and exudes the end. Respect

You write with heavy emotions here, John...
I felt the loneliness and desolation...freedom seems to be a high price..
Your sanctuary a dark tomb..

A haunting write, dear friend!... Well penned!

This is beautifully written! It's like the whole "freedom in death" thing! Love it!

This mixture of darkness and freedom is blooming here.

"Free of pain and fire,
No longer will I watch my world burn,
No longer will I witness the eyes of the suffering,"

Beautiful job here!

A dark poem. I did like the journey you took me with.
'For what I have equates to the lack of being,
No flesh to remember that I am human,
Free of pain and fire,'
I like the above lines. Gave the poem strength and purpose. No weakness in the excellent poetry.

Hope this proved cathartic to write John, it's darkly colored and full of angst....

I am mortal till' I reach rock bottom,
When the winds cease to enter my tomb

Great read, those were my favorite lines...kudos.
