Thatcher

Thatcher to the grave you have fallen,

Yet behind you leave the mess of your power,

A land for the rich you had created,

By the 'divine' judgements you passed,

We suffered at your hands for the blame was now ours,

Yet you were the one to destroy us,

The poor now must carry the weight,

Upon our weary shoulders,

Down went the industry,

The coal mines and faculties,

You hard headed fool,

They called you the Iron Lady,

Now rust over the time you should serve.

i really liked the iron lady thingy...
this poem is full of dissapprovement of a common man...tired of being fool and laying on the ground....these things gotta fix...peoples are dying...and those so call kings of this pathetic world...they will lose if we stand togther....

I live in what was the coal mining area of Yorkshire, and saw first hand the hardship , loss of communities and tears she caused...i could go on and on... but i get so angry..

I know what you mean, by closing them down she destroyed the industry in the country, turned the rich richer and made the poor so much more poor. She was a very foolish woman who made the first step in making what the country is now, a country for the rich, and a prison for the poor

she also sold off many council houses in this area and still to this day there is a shortage of social housing.I worked with miner's wives they were so disraught...

Yes she did indeed, she sold so many over the country, made it hell for the people who actually need them. I live in a council house and let me tell you it's horrible, our local council are the most corrupt scum I've ever met. As soon my parents have any money they raise the tax so they lose money each month. It doesn't help they are disabled so we are all relying on their disablity allowance, I often have to give them some of my jobseekers money to help pay the rent. It's horrible how they treat us here

i am classed as disabled and i live in an old council house..it is well over 80 yrs old and i am surrounded by immigrants who mostly don't even speak my language..lol

Wow, somehow I'm not surprised, that's the problem the houses that should be for the ones who need it can't because immigrants get first pick of the place for free

Yeah I know what you mean, I came to grips recently that I'm poor, which means my life ahead isn't supposed to be a good one, the country took that right away from me. Only the rich are allowed to succeed

well, there is a big divide, but a lot depends on how much you want to succeed, my children have all done very well ... you have to want to succeed badly enough and then you will...

Yeah well, I want to succeed very badly, I wanted to write films and be part of the media career, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen for me. I'm really happy to hear your children all managed to become something though :)

I guess, I did a media course and it focused so badly on camerawork and things like that but pretty much ignored the writing side. We had one module and it's the only one I did well on, I did badly on the rest because it wasn't what I could do

Its amazing just how divisive thatchers politics were. I grew up under her regime (and at times it really felt like a regime didn't it?). Whilst i don't agree with people celebrating her death i can understand , when I saw footage on the news of her it was like the past 30 years evaporated and all the old feelings of despair came flooding back. She did much damage whether intentionally or not to many communities - and the hurt lives on for many of them

Yeah she did alot of damage, and well I was born to find it was effecting me like hell being pretty much poor and everything. I have no job, my parents are disabled and barely get enough to get by on. It's tough, I'm glad you took the time to read this :)

Since her death, I've learned how much she really wasn't loved by an awful lot of people. Quite honestly, I don't think I would've liked her, either. Your poem packs a punch.

Yeah she ruined a lot of peoples lives, she's even started mine off quite poorly. Because of her I've grown up very poor and without luxuries of any sort really. Thank you for your review
