Was it Worth it?

Was it Worth it?

A Poem by Forgotten

Let me strike the venom from the wicked,
Let your crooked emotions no longer damn us,
Oblivion can wait for my bitter blood,
Let the taste linger in your mouth,
I'll smirk as your mind tears itself to pieces,
As your soul turns into molten tar,
Maybe you should have not have wielded,
The Steel Banshee.

Do you hear her cries let it burn your eyes,
Let your water turn to poison at your touch,
I know you see her everywhere you turn,
It hurts doesn't it?
You walk upon a world with a fractured spine,
Spitting out bile like yourself,
A putrid mess of self hatred for the world,
Tell me does it hurt when you pull that trigger?
Or did the sting die long before your soul?

What does it matter you'll never learn,
You see the demon lingering in your eyes,
The animus tears a rift in your heart,
One day you'll feel the pain you caused,
When you smoulder in the heat of Lucifer's flames,
So let me ask you...
Was it worth it?

Loved the vitriol in this flowing piece J-P. Certainly lots of emotion flows from this well constructed verse. Two suggestions, don't use soul twice and spine twice and the ending would have more impact as simply 'Was it worth it?'

Yup now that IS good J-P. Like it and its flavours of hot sauce vitriol.
There are people in life that only live to destroy another's, who spew vile assaults and have little conscience how it affects others.

'Spitting out bile like yourself,
A putrid mess of self hatred for the world,
Tell me does it hurt when you pull that trigger?'

Raw scream right there! Kudos Forgotten, nicely pen'd this one.

So agree, it's a part of all of us, that we need to embrace on occasion...my pleasure kind sir ;-)
The answer is no. No people-unless, no longer human-can take it to their conscience to kill and it will never be satisfying in the end .
