A Relationship of Hate

A Relationship of Hate

A Poem by Forgotten

I once believed your name was imprinted on my heart,

Only to find it upon the arrow that pierced it,

Your wicked personality draining me,

Infecting the hole left behind,

You may have eyes of an angel,

But I shall be fooled no longer,

For I saw the darkness in your looming shadow.

I told my heart to love you no longer,

Yet telling the heart not to love,

Is like telling it not to beat at all,

I was tricked by the sirens call,

And laid to bleed out when you were done,

Yet your putrid soul shall tarnish mine no longer,

No longer will your blackened soul damn me.

The breadcrumbs of my fairytail will be left behind,

No longer will they be able to haunt me,

Reminding me of the path I once took,

Tricking me to revisit the familiar roads,

I shall yearn for your touch no more,

For banishing the remnants of my love for you,

Shall leave me replenished.

I leave my emotions to rest within the grave you dug for me,

I watch them bleed for every scar you left upon me,

I will not cry and you shall not falter my path,

For my future will not rest in your clutches,

You shall drive your jagged dagger of hate in no further,

For I care no longer for your puss riddled heart.

This poem means "triumph" to me. It shows hurt that seems unending, but also a hurt that I just know will heal. Right now, these pains you feel are making "Poetry" happy and one day, even though the words are painful, you will shine up above them and say DAMN, hurting still benefitted me.

The imagery and the wording was stunning. I could feel the pain, the anger, the scorn. It felt so real and tangible. The poem was really very well written. My favorite line would have to be "Yet telling the heart not to love/Is like telling it not to beat at all". It has a sense of romanticism in it, that offers a bit of warmth and hope to the reader.

Lovely poem!

'You shall drive your jagged dagger of hate in no further', Nice.

Conflicts between your rational self and your emotional self creates a drama that encourages the reader to decide within themselves, "what would I do?".
Well done.

Intense stuff, I really loved the lines...
"I told my heart to love you no longer,
Yet telling the heart not to love,
Is like telling it not to beat at all,"
So true! Life would be so easy if you could just command the love away, the hurt with it. Unfortunately life is nowhere near easy. This poem really embodied the pain, hurt and suffering that comes with love lost, with heartbreak. Wonderful job!
