Step Across the Void

Step Across the Void

A Poem by Forgotten

What are we to expect when fate catches up with us?
Stepping across the void we fall into oblivion,
Subject to our denial we fall endlessly,
Through the blackened pits of disparity,
We fall unsure of our lives upon our eyes.

When will I fall into the blissful sleep?
Afraid of the day we may not wake we live life,
Ignorant to the time we are given we glide by,
Living within the boundaries of our mortality,
We must all one day take the plunge.

I await the day I may harmonise with the angels,
Living life as a pilgrim I strive for the higher cause,
My bones may grow weary and my muscle strained,
Yet I will not fear oblivions gate,
For life is a chapter within our hallowed book.

For when the day should arrive I shall not look back,
Reach out and touch me with your hearts,
So I would know I have fallen with reason,
As I step across the void I shall not fear it,
For life is a pilgrimage we must all take.

This poem flows really well and it seems the writer is completely at ease with whatever fate awaits him. Amazing thought.

Loved the lines:
"For when the day should arrive I shall not look back,
Reach out and touch me with your hearts,"

Left me with a feeling of peace once I finished reading it.
Thanks for sharing

A pilgrimage indeed..I liked this..None of us know how long our journey will take, we just have to make the most of it...In theory I am a lot nearer to the abyss than most...|But the clock ticks for all of us
