Sleeper in the Hollow

Sleeper in the Hollow

A Poem by Eile MacIntyre

Sleeper in the hollow
Burning the candle bright
Enough asynthe to swallow
Throat raw and tight

Power quaking
Feel the earth shaking
Dagger in hand
But failing to stand

Forced into the dark
Never to illuminate
Cannot hear the melodious lark
Because this mind is a closed gate

Crossed the line never to be
What happened to the heart?
Sleeper in the hollow to see
Pulling this Power apart

Who to dominate?
Who to fail?
Cannot anticipate
The one to prevail

The war of Beauty
Inside or outside
Faces swear fealty
No hearts to confide

Losing this Power
Escalating a thunderous fear
What saves in the final hour
Is everything you hold dear

Inner beauty is the brighter flame
Catching the illuminious stars above
Shining with Power to win the game
Overcoming war with love

Sleeper in the hollow
Awake from your dreaming
The light from this candle to follow
Nothing is as seeming

Author's Note

Eile MacIntyre
Open to interpretation. I didn't have a specific thought when I wrote this, though it's loosely based on a story my cousin is writing. About the power of inner beauty.
Enjoy.
