Too Much

Too Much

A Poem by Nana Carmine

"

You can tell me I'll live forever
You can tell me the sky won't fade.
Lie me the way forward
Then send me home again.
You can tell me the sun won't shine
Or that the grass will die away .
You can tell me the moon only comes
To see my face again.
You can tell me the sea is gone
And all the lakes and rivers dry.
You can tell me I'm special
You can always make me cry.
But words I never want to hear
Escaping from your mouth
Are the simple words 'I love you'
Because that would be too much.
