Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Nana Carmine
"

for a long lost friend

"

I can’t say I’m not sorry

And it’s too hard to pretend.

I am quiet aware now

That these things will never mend.

In a year too much has passed.

Too many broken hearts

And not enough smiles.

Things are different now.

Even now it’s over

All that I can see

Is this faded memory

Of how we used to be.

Not as lovers

But as friends.

Before anyone else

You were my best friend.

I say goodbye now

As we go our separate ways.

But I will not forget

The better days.

good expression:)
The poem conveys a feeling that many of us have felt, but did not feel able to articulate it.

Nana.. this is very touching and should be read more than once.. as all great poems should be-
your emotions connect the mind of the reader with passionate words expressing the sentimental relationship valued as treasured memories..to never forget the ways your best friend made you feel

through good times and the bad, but being able to look back on your friendship as the specialness
it was and always will be.. the free form prose has a delicate rhyme .. which accentuates the
thought put forth.. the beautiful emotions that tear the readers heart like paper..truly lovely

good piece reflecting a peace and closure to a relationship. You can feel the mourning, but in a healed and move on kind of way. Making peace with the past.
Nice piece.

Its fantastic. I especially like the first, third, and fourth verse. The rhyming to not rhyming wasn't very fluid, but overall it was great. Also- sorry, bnut it's going to bug me if I don't say anything- I believe you meant 'quite' not 'quiet' in the 3rd line of the 1st verse.

I liked it, but the way you went from rhyming sometimes to not at all hurt the flow.

I think that this was very beautiful in itself, really. So sad, and it is soooooo hard to say goodbye as well. Even for a little while, it would still hurt. Cool poem, tho. I would change 'quiet' to quite. Other than that, it was really good :)
