The Lie

The Lie

A Poem by Following_Child
"

This poem is about the guilt associated with telling a lie.

"
I won't say if you don't ask. Would you say that it pulls us apart? I picture your face if you knew it was true. But you don't, because I won't spill. This is a hard-to-swallow pill. It's bittersweet, but it tastes so good. This vice just can't be beaten. Not because it makes me cool, but it switches on my brain. I know it sounds insane But from looking at my grades- things start to change. I'm tearing at the seams things you couldn't even dream about, are going on with me. It may seem small, but to me it's tall. Towering over me, looming, all-consuming, sirens booming. It's just a little white lie.
