Lost

Lost

A Poem by Folagbade Muyiwa

Were you shy?
Was I all over the place?
Or you were scared
And I didn't see it?
Was I slow and you were kept waiting?
Who were you talking to
That didn't know me ?
Were you monitoring and I didn't match up?

Though this is over
But we can never be over.

I did got lost
In the mid of a lot,
Was I in love or fully lost?
You never gave me a clue to the answer
And I continued swimming
In the lake that has no maps,
No coordinates............
Or I failed to see it.

Is beauty not in expressions?
Don't words portray elegance?
Are gestures lacking in ability
To show forth right knowledge?
Are signs becoming invisible?
Or words went unheard?

You are a beauty to behold
But your words are not straight.
Humour is lacking
But you are hot!
I was allured, yes I was enticed
And I didn't want to see the imperfection
I just wanted to lay hold of the
Astonishing and seemingly inexplicable creature
Sealed up within you.

Though it is over
But we can never be over.

With eyes wide open, I saw the surface
Mind so ready, I still got confused.
Did you not ever feel it?
Was there someone who seduced your attention?
Or was it just not existing?

I knocked with my eyes
I rang with my attention.
It was like you never heard the sound of my knocking
And the sound of my ringing was muted.
I hoped!

Time became my ally
Your location became a coordinate in my mind map.
But I still couldn't get a grip
You were like fish swimming in honey.

But now, I have decided to sit back
Keep sipping my orange lemonade
Breaking the walls of distractions
Crossing my legs on friendship breakers
And starting afresh
