Deeper love

Deeper love

A Poem by Folagbade Muyiwa

Sunrise after sunrise
And sunset after sunset
Have I put my heart to work
And kept my mind focused
Upon your profound love

Excellently have I been kept
Awesomely have you reigned
Tenderly have you dealt
With my unfaithfulness
Even when I expected the hard way

I have not never failed you
But your unmerited favour
Have I received pleasure from
In the deepest part of me
Elegantly dealing under grace

Perfection is to work towards
But would rather pursue your nature
Where love is ablaze
Full of praiseworthy desires
And an abode of divine beauty

Deep down within me
Dwells yearnings of your deep love
Longings illustrated by a lifted heart
As I await your calling
To come deep, deeper in your love

Jesus take me deeper
In your infallible love
Where vice's existence is ceased
Where errors don't live
And where my joy be
