RevolutionA Poem by Folagbade MuyiwaA sudden turn around that changed the story of a nation
We do not live together
But we lived as one We were a people Yes! We were one A nation that was beloved And a people in it Ever longing for happiness Never willing to go back With hearts and minds alike Jointly were we actuated Ardently for a great good Like never to give up will And there was the revolution As though an upheaval Shattering bonds And turning up vices Bewilderment struck hearts Blue-penciled rationale for laughter Inducing tears From eyes once lined with beauty The hearts of men Ablaze with maliciousness Birthing selfishness and contemn Letting the devil waltz Our sacredness lives Yet evil giggles With fingers to the hearts Of where our hopes lie Men trip men And men are killed By men yet to be killed By other men Like animals for slaughter People get slain Body members apart Rocking every places whit fear The deafening sounds of blasts Shaking our hearts And the sight of disasters Tearing the heart apart Hearts are gripped with fear Eyes are flooded with tears Heads are ruled by confusion While bloods are spilled ceaselessly Nigeria, a land that flowed With milk and honey Now showering Blood and tears What transpired? Where did we go wrong Why are we walking in darkness And where is our compassion? We don't know who we are We don't know why its happening Rather we know we were a people And we are no more one © 2014 Folagbade MuyiwaReviews
