My Dreams

My Dreams

A Poem by Folagbade Muyiwa

My dreams are not nightmares
Yet they make me dolorous

I sleep peacefully at night
But wake up to keep wondering

Why don't I sleep when I won't dream
And stay awake when dreams are sure

Sweetness describes my sleeps
But my dreams are nowhere to go

I wish my night dreams
Are just like my daydreams

And I won't get up from bed
Even at the cry of lateness

But my daydreams are different
From my dreams in the day

Because my dreams in the day
Are not different from my night dreams

Oneirophobia has me apprehended
And I now dread to sleep

Please tell me what brings my dreams
And I will embrace it with a knife
