Waking CityA Poem by flyingfree
Under a gray sky clearing into blue
The city awakens Light after light mottling the dark scape in ever-changing hues And rising noise Cars line up at the stoplight, people filter onto the streets Signs flicker on Cafés fill up with sleepy faces in need of morning coffee Orders pile up Taxis and buses and trains become loaded with passengers Jostling for a seat Horns honk in different tones at irritated challengers Rushing for green Employees check their offices and stores Ready for customers Parents hustle their children out the door Late for school The sun now bright lights up the skyscrapers The city alive. © 2018 flyingfreeAuthor's Note
