The Plan

The Plan

A Chapter by FlyingBerryFish

Sarah Carroll's POV

Cygnus has been off on one ever since his meeting with that boy earlier. I don't know what happened but obviously it wasn't good. "All I want to do is take over the planet. Is that too much to ask?" Cygnus slumps on his red leather chair and impatiently taps his finger across the hardwood table. After a moment of silence and the occasional ticking of the clock. Cygnus stops tapping the table, the corners of his mouth slowly turn upwards placing a sinister smile on his face. He slowly sits forward in his seat and places both hands on the table. "If we can't force him to be on our side we will just have to trick him into being on our side" seeing the confused look on my face he continues "What If Jesse tuned out to be the not so nice person that the protector thinks he is? We need something... Something to plant doubt into his mind" Again he leans back in his chair "Hmmmmm. Let me think.....ah I know just the thing" Cygnus stands from his chair and walks towards a glass cabinet the opposite side of me. Carefully opening each door he brings out a small glass vile. Inside it is a deep crimson liquid. "Philladona... One drop causes hallucinations. It needs to be absorbed directly into the blood stream to work. The boy will see what we want him to see" Cygnus hands me the vile "Go to his house tonight. Find the boy and use this" I slowly reach out my hand a take it from him. Cygnus turns towards the door and without a second glance disappears leaving me alone.

I arrived at the boy’s house, all the lights were off and nothing could be heard. Cygnus had told me that the others were staying with him so I have to be careful. I opened the gate and slowly made my way to the door clasping the vile of liquid firmly in my hand. Using a paperclip I pried the door open cringing when the door creaked rather loudly. I quickly shut the door and looked around to make sure nobody was coming. It was so dark in the house I couldn’t see the boxes behind me I knocked them over quickly catching them before they hit the floor, luckily nobody had woken up. I went to the kitchen and placed the vile on the counter, slowing pulling my gloves off. Cygnus said it had to be injected into the blood stream so I started putting the liquid on my nails. I suddenly heard a noise sounding like a door being opened from upstairs, I quickly finished with the liquid and put it into my pocket. Whoever it was they were making their way to where I am. A loud tumble sounded from behind me, I quickly spun towards the person. It was the boy I was after. He looked shocked, he tried to sound brave but a few stutters came through “He-hello. U-um, wh-who are you? And wh-why are you in my house?” after he said that he looked like he was mentally scolding him- self. It was now or never, If I was going to do this it had to be now. I quickly dashed towards him, he notices this and also backed up until he hit the wall. Before I could reach him he had turned the light on, he squinted a little and when he finally saw me he looked even more shocked that he was before “M-mm-Miss …Carroll? How’d you get in?” I don’t have time for this so I advanced towards him again, him being the tricky child he is dogged my attack, not without sending some boxes flying of course. That was sure to wake the others up a small growl fell out of my mouth.

The boy started moving towards the kitchen, he was now standing directly in front of the table. Suddenly the light came on upstairs and another voice sounded “Who’s there?” the boy in front of me looked relieved he opened his mouth “Jessie I’m …” before he could finish I hand pinned him to the table covering his mouth, I managed to scratch his arm with the nails I had put the poison on as I went. Now I had to plant some doubt into his head “Shhhhhhhhh, I just came to give you a warning child. Stay away from that boy.” He looked confused at my statement, clearly the Philladona doesn’t work very fast.  “He is more trouble than he is worth. If you want to live then I suggest you stay away child…” I was about to say more when the boy I now know as Jesse was standing at the bottom of the stairs. Jesse looked towards the kitchen and saw me “Mason?....oh my god Mason! Hey let him go.” That was my cue to get the hell out of there not before I gave the boy one last warning “Head my warning child.”. Jesse was almost in the lounge now. I hissed in irritation and threw the boy at Jesse. I may have been a bit rough as I heard him crash into the boxes. I kept running not hearing anybody following me. I kept on going until I reached the hideout. Knocking on the door out of breath Cygnus opened the door “Is it done?” he asked with a straight face. “It’s done” he smiled at me and gestured for me to come inside, I followed him into his office when inside he invited me to sit down. I gratefully took the offer. “I trust there were no problems” he asked whilst getting two glasses from the cabinet and placing them in front of me. “I managed to get the Philladona into the child’s bloodstream and planted a doubt into his head, I’m not sure if it worked though as that boy you warned me about came down and saw me”. Cygnus didn’t seem to worried about this as he continued smiling, he placed a jug of water next to the glasses “Now we need to figure out what we do next” he leant back in his chair and placed one arm over the other. “What will push MR. Burford over the edge? Hmmmmm, something that connects the two of them” Cygnus looked into thin air tapping his chin with his finger. He suddenly stopped “Of course, they have both lost someone.  MR. Burford lost his brother, Jesse lost his sister” I looked at him confused “How does that help us?” Cygnus looked towards me “If Mr. Burford believes that Jesse was responsible for his sister’s death then maybe, just maybe we can get him to turn” I looked at him doubtfully “How will he believe that? You told me that the boy was restrained, there was nothing he could do” Cygnus stood up “Yes he was, and I have no doubt he has told MR. Burford that, but with the Philladona in his system, he will start seeing things, doubting everything and everyone”. I smiled at him “So how do we convince him that Jesse was lying?” Cygnus smiled “Leave that to me, you may go, I will call you if and when you are needed” I nodded and left the room.

Jesse’s POV

I have absolutely no idea what just happened, Mason was just attacked by a random lady and to make thing weirder she warned Mason about me. I have never even seen that lady before, why would some random person break into someone’s house just to make stuff up. This happened about 20 minutes ago, Mason is in the kitchen with Orion. I’m currently looking out of the backdoor. Mason has been acting rather strange, I hope he doesn’t listen to her. It’s weird but ever since Mason arrived I have been very confused. I feel a connection with him, Orion says it’s just because he is my protector. I guess he is right. Crystal came to join me by the door “You Okay?” I turned towards her so I could look at her “Yeah, it’s just… I wish I knew what they wanted with him. I know you said they needed someone with a pure soul but there are others out there with pure souls. Why keep coming after him?” Crystal took my hand “I will admit it’s odd but you need to stop worrying about him. He is your protector. He is supposed to be looking out for you” I shook her hand off me “Your telling me you wouldn’t do the same if it was me in trouble?” Crystal looked shocked “Of course I would but he… Well he” I stepped back from her “He’s what Crystal?” Crystal looked down “Nothing, just forget I said anything” Crystal started walking away and the strange thing is I didn’t follow her, I was too angry what was her problem? What did he ever to do her? I walked to the kitchen surprised to see only Orion. He must have seen my confusing as he nodded his head towards the stairs “They both went to bed” I nodded and sat next to Orion putting my head on the table with a huge sigh. Orion patted my back “What’s up mate?” I lifted my head just enough so that I could see him. “Nothing, just tired I suppose” Orion nodded and stood up “Come on we should get some sleep. I nodded following him upstairs.

As we past Mason’s room we could hear him tossing and turning. Orion opened the door a little. On the bed Mason looked like he was having some sort of nightmare. His head was wet with sweat. Orion looked at me as if asking me what we should do. Shrugging my shoulders I made my way towards Mason’s headboard. “No..n…noo stop” Mason started scratching and punching the air. I put my hand on his shoulders “Mason?? Mate wake up” Mason kept turning. “You’re lying…. Ahhhhhh” Mason screamed sitting up hugging the duvet to his chest staring straight ahead. Orion looked at me and then said “Mason? You okay man?” Mason looked toward Orion and gave a small nod, he was still shaking. I put my hand on his shoulders which made him jump “whoa Mason it’s just me” Mason stopped shaking and without saying anything started staring back off in to space. Orion gestured me to follow him which I obeyed. When we were outside the room Orion turned to me “What do you think that was about?” I looked towards Mason’s door and looked inside, he looked like his nightmare was over. I closed the door and turned back to Orion “I have no idea, whatever it was its stopped now. Maybe we should ask him in the morning” Orion nodded and stared going to his room “Night Mate” he went into his room and closed the door. I did the same. God knows I could do with some sleep.
