Crystals story

Crowds of villagers sat either side of the stadium watching in amazement as the moon passed through earth's shadow. The center of the stadium coming to life as the flame haired child sings to welcome it.

"Like moths to flame let's chase it down

Both long to wear its crescent crown

Stars are bright our moon is high

We flee across an inky sky"


The moon as if hearing the song begins the process. Dark curved edges slowly engulf the bright sphere, the people observing with a twinkle in their eyes begin singing also. The podium ascends lifting the child higher and higher her parents stand to the Side watching their child with pride. Just as the moon is about to pass through the final stage a chilling sound fills the stadium, starlettas rival planet now have hold of the girl all the attention is now on the villains in the middle. "We come from the Dragon Nebula! Thrown into exile we starve! Your planet gives us the sustenance we need. Hand over your children and join us in our quest to conquer the solar system. If you do not then we will kill this child" the man raises his claw like fingers towards the child's throat No one in the stadium dare speaks out of fear, the girl's parents stand frozen too afraid to move. "We give you until the end of the eclipse in two days and you will either join us or the girl dies" The man disappears taking the girl with him, her parents suddenly break their frozen position as their friends comfort them. The rest of the stadium breaks out in scared chatters all of them thinking of the girl. The Emperor now stands were the girl was and quiets the stadium "My people now is not the time to lose our selves. We have been faced with terrors much worse than this and lived to tell the tale. We are a planet of warriors, fighters. The only way to retrieve the child unharmed and save our planet is to fulfill the prophecy" Many gasps and shocked faces break out among the crowd "It is a dangerous task. But it is one that is needed for the future of our kind. All children must report to the stadium tomorrow morn. For tomorrow we find our savior" the stadium is now silent as the emperor walks towards the girl's family. With one wave to the audience he and the girl's family leave.


One girl stands in the darkened abandoned stadium staring towards the sky with tears in her eyes. She had just witnessed her best friend being taken by a rival planet. A planet who put her people in so much fear that the prophecy was their last chance. Everybody knew what the prophecy was a child of the stars must go to earth and search for the one child who could bring our kingdom back to peace. This child of earth would be unlike any other human being. This child would wield the power of the stars, of course nobody knew who it was or where they were. Earth was a foreign place many of our kind have been down there and many have not returned. The girl was pulled out of her trance by her name being called, she turns to see her mother smiling sadly at her "Come on love let's get you home" with one last look to the sky the girl follows her mum out of the stadium. The streets are deserted the villagers are probably getting the children ready for tomorrow i know for a fact that my mum will try and stop me from trying but that girl was my friend there is no way I'm letting her die. The minute they arrived home the girl was sent to bed she could hear her parents arguing "I will not let our daughter go on this suicide mission. I just won't" her mother was distraught "we don't even know if she will be the chosen one" her mother scoffed at this "Don't be stupid of course she is. You only have to look at her birthmark to tell she is the one" The girl was cut off eavesdropping when her brother opened the door and came and sat next to her in his hand was a necklace. "Hiya sis, whatever happens tomorrow I want you to know that we all love you and you mean the world to us. I also want you take this" as he said this he handed the girl a necklace. The girl took it and looked at her brother "This necklace will keep you safe and remind you of us. If you are picked tomorrow we won't be able to say goodbye so I'm saying it now" by now both were crying. The girl's brother stayed with her until she was asleep. He left her room and headed towards his parents room who were talking in hushed tones, noticing the boys presence they stopped motioning him over to the bed. No one said anything. No one had to. They all knew what tomorrow would mean. Tomorrow their daughter, sister could be sent to a whole new planet. A planet where most starlettas do not return for now all they could do was comfort each other and hope for the best.


As morning dawns on Starletta the stadium fills with children. The girl takes her place among the others her family sits on the side as all the others do. The emperor takes his place in the center and faces the crowd "My people, I know today is not something any of us had planned but I want you to know that whoever is chosen today will change our world for the better. I have in my hand the stone of Agena. Taken from a star that fell more than 3 light years ago" The emperor held the bright red object in his hand "Each child will approach the stone and place their hand upon it. If they are the chosen the stone of Agena will glow signaling a bond and that child will be the one to save us all" The emperor set the stone on a beam and stood back waving his hand in the first child's direction. A boy approaches the stone looking back towards his family he gives them a nod and returns his gaze back towards the stone, slowly he reaches out towards it everybody in the stadium holds their breath waiting, he places his handed directly on the stone but nothing happens. This process is repeated with many aggravated sighs they are down to the last two children. The girl and a boy not much older than herself. The boy steps forward as the process begins again, the girl sends a quick glance towards her parents and then back to the stone. The boy places his hand on the stone again nothing happens, the boy smiles and runs to his family and embraces them, it's the girls turn with a deep breath she approaches the stone. She looks at everybody's faces the emperor is smiling encouragingly, the audience holding their breaths and her family quietly sobbing, hoping it isn't her. She approaches the stone and places her hand over it, before she can even touch it the stone begins to glow a vibrant colour, a ring of red encasing her eyes change colour as the stone sends her a message, showing her who will save them showing her what she needs to do.

The audience watches in awe as the stone slowly becomes duller. No one dare says a thing until the emperor speaks "A child has been chosen. Come here child" the girl walks up to the emperor and takes his outstretched hands. The emperor bends down and asks the child's name when he gets an answer he turns back to the crowd "Our savior, our warrior. Tomorrow this brave child Crystal will go on the ultimate quest" the crowd breaks out in cheers the emperor turns to the girl once more and whispers "It's against the rules but you look like you need it. Go and say goodbye to your family I will wait here" he then turns back towards the crowd "Now our champion has been chosen we can be sure of our safety. In honor of her we shall hold a celebration as the stars shoot across our sky we will send her off" the crowd cheers once more before filing out of the stadium. Crystal runs towards her now sobbing family, she jumps into her brothers arms as her parents wrap their arms around them in a tight embrace. "My child, my sweet, sweet child shhh, shhh" her mum try's to sooth the sobbing child "Baby girl I'm going to miss you" her father says rubbing circles unto her back. Crystal lifts her head to look into her brothers eyes "remember what I told you last night! Promise me that no matter what happens you always will" all Crystal could do was nod she was afraid if she spoke she would break down again. They were broken apart by the sound of someone clearing their throat they all looked to see the emperor. They all kissed the girl once more before saying goodbye. The emperor looked at the family "You will have another chance to see her before she leaves tomorrow" with a nod he led the way the girl slowly followed hoping beyond hope that this would all work out.


The girl was led to the emperor's house "You will stay in the guest room for tonight. Tomorrow morning we will take you to see the seer and in the afternoon is when you set off" he must have seen the look on the girls face he place a hand on her shoulder "I know it's scary now but remember your doing is for your planet, your family. And your friend. It's the only way" the girl nodded in understanding and continued following the emperors he continued down hallways nodded to the occasional staff we passed "this is your room. I will leave you to settle in come to the dining hall at 7" the emperor left the girl and headed towards a different room. With another sigh the girl opens the door to her room, the first thing she sees is galaxy themed wallpaper, a bookshelf and a large canopy bed with a wardrobe opposite. The girl walked towards the wardrobe and opened it, a red robe adorned with silver beads lay within. The robe she will be wearing tomorrow when she leaves this planet. She closes the wardrobe and sits quietly on the bed pulling out the necklace her brother had given her. She traces the necklace as if it's the most delicate thing created with a sigh she brings it up towards her head and lets it hang around her neck. Noticing the time the girl heads towards the dining hall and knocks on the door. A slender women with long black hair answers and leads the way. The women pulls out a chair and informs the girl that the emperor and seer would be here momentarily and with that leaves the room. The girl must have been sat there for a while as the next thing she knows the door is being opened again and in come the emperor closely followed by a boy about the same age as the girl. The girl looks at the boy in confusion, the emperor noticing this explains "This my dear child is the seer" The girls face now registered shock. The seer was a boy, everybody thought the seer was an old man, that's what they told them at school anyways. The boy came closer to the girl and smiled "Please sit.. We have much to discuss" as he said this he pointed towards a large mahogany table in the center of the room and sat on a chair, the emperor left the room leaving the two to talk. The girl sat on the chair next to the boy and waited to hear what he had to say. "As you are aware recent events have forced us to act upon the prophesy, trust me when I say I have seen the prophesy and it isn't something that I would consider unless absolutely necessary" The boy was interrupted by a knock at the door, after a few moments a lady walked in with a tray "The emperor told me to bring you drinks" with that she placed the silver dish on the table and without waiting for a reply headed towards the door. The boy looked back towards the girl and took her hands in his "The prophesy states that one child. One very special child will go to earth to find and train the one person who can save us. Once this person has been found it's your duty to ensure her safety. I have seen obstacles that may block your path. Obstacles from their planet as well as ours" as if sensing her worry, the boy squeezed the girls hand "But don't worry I have also seen new friends, allies that will help you in your quest" at that moment a loud bang sounded from outside the emperors house followed by numerous people shouting. The boy stood up and waked to the window, his face turned from calm too anxious within seconds. The boy turned towards the girl and pulled her up from the chair "The Dragon Nebula are launching an attack, we must send you to earth now" as he finished his sentence one of the windows smashed sending glass shards everywhere.

The door slammed opened revealing the emperors red face with terror. He ran towards Crystal and grabbed her hand, he then turned towards the boy "You have to get back to the passage we have guards waiting.... Go!" The boy jumped up and sprinted towards the door. The emperor followed pulling Crystal behind him, sprinting and dodging his way through the countless battles along the hallways. He kept running until they found themselves near a door, the emperor yanked the door open and pulled Crystal inside, moments later her family appeared in the room. They instantly ran towards Crystal surrounding her in a hug. "Mr. and Mrs. Waters we have to send Crystal to earth.... NOW!" Her parents broke from the hug, her brother still holding on to her arm turned to her, no words were said, none were needed as the emperor revealed a secret hatch "This is the ship that will take you to earth" he was interrupted by a banging on the door "Go. Hurry" Crystal was shoved into the capsule, the countdown to take off had begun. Crystal stumbled back as the capsule took off she grabbed the closest thing to her as lights started to flash and a loud siren sounded behind her making her jump. She ran to the small window that was in the door and mouthed 'I love you' to her family as tears ran down her face. She could see her family wave as her mum fell into her dad's arms crying hard. Crystal's heart broke as the capsule took her further away until she couldn't see them anymore. She turned and sat on the edge of the chair ready to face her future, alone, to find the human angel.
