GRIEFA Poem by Diane GaffneyIntense grief after a devastating lossGRIEF Storm clouds gather around me Dark and threatening. I feel the wind blow Hard and strong Hard and strong and close, Like a wet blanket enshrouding me Too close for comfort… Heavy and smothering Cold, and There is no air to breathe. Nowhere to go… Pelting rain hurts my body, Blowing sand stings my eyes. Waves crash the shore. I can’t see; Are there tears?
There is nowhere to go… Heavy rain and winds, Sand cold, soggy, and slick. I can’t see. I can’t breathe. I’m lost… Nowhere to go but forward. Keep. Moving. Forward. Wet, cold sand squishes between my toes, I barely see the rocks Rising before me. Waves crash on the shore Fierce waves strong and sure Deafening roar… Forward, move forward keep moving forward…
The storm surrounds me, I can’t stop It will overtake me. Yet I know I will make it, © 2021 Diane GaffneyReviews
