Nothing and Never

Nothing and Never

A Poem by Dominik D. Rites
"

I just felt so empty inside

"
There is a space where something should be,
or someone,
that is so void of all things and color-
that smell-
that nothing could ever fill it again.
That space
which can never, ever, be filled again
lies here,
in my sinking heart, gaping, burning
with rage.

I really enjoyed this read Dominik. Great flow, terrific grasp of the form and imagery.

One minor quibble, or not really a quibble just a thought: the line "that nothing could ever fill it again" reads just a tad chunky. A possible change, which to my ear, would add more power to the line is to x out it and insert good after nothing...that nothing good could ever fill again...keeps meter and rhyme but would signify much more of the emptiness you seem to be striving for
