Dull WingsA Poem by Dominik D. RitesWait for me.You broke a barrier, Within my heart, Within my mind, And though, I didn't know, What was scarier: Being torn apart, Or being kind, You dove through the waters, To retrieve my drowning body, And caught her. Though God he, Sent a sterile gust, You still believe that you must, If at all just, Resurrect my trust. Though I scarred, My arms with claws, With the bear's paw, You read the lines like stars, And saw what I saw. A piece of me was missing, And then we were kissing. I hated myself for hating me, As my lyrics, My pillow, And my waists would agree. The places where the blade cut, Hidden from sight, Hidden from what? Hidden from the things that once, So coldly, Gave me fright. I know that soon, You will see through them. Pull apart my cocoon, And handle me with care. For my wings are bare, Without color or design, And though I do seem dull and beaten, I will be fine. Give me time.
