Character development

Character development

A Poem by Wrapped In Plastic
"

I'm just putting this from my notebook to here as a reference for myself again lol. Feel free to use it though, I don't mind.

"
*Divise good/bad aspects of their personality. Are they kind yet also somewhat self centred?
*Always talk about the character as if they are real, make it believable.
*Show character in a different light, don't keep the character one dimensional.
*When creating a past, make sure it has a part of melding into their personality.
*Make a list of likes/dislikes for them.
*Keep them balanced, even an evil person may have something good about them.
*Give quirks - good habits, bad habits, etc.
*Work out fears, motivations, weaknesses and big secrets.
*Include physical features and details when writing (shape of nose, jaw, ears, body shape, how clothes fit, how they carry themselves).
*Roleplay as character, do an interview.
