Glass Window

Glass Window

A Poem by Gabriella Earnestine

Feel my pain,

every instance, every moment,

every second

when it rains.

Witness my fear,

when thunder rolls in.

When winds howl and lightning cracks.

When there is no light of day.

I shiver.

I shake.

But I will stay strong,

and strong I shall stay.

You can look through me,

I have nothing to hide,

I can even show you a whole world

on the other side.

So go ahead.

Lean on me.

Breathe on me.

Shatter me

into a million pieces and

pick up each one

with your bare hand.

But hold me there,

for another lifetime to pass by,

tuck me into your warmth, your frame

like clouds tuck the moon into the night sky...

I am your glass window.
