The Love Song of Dispair

The Love Song of Dispair

A Poem by Arianna Night Swan
"

Avril Levene sings this song in a more condensed version, but this is the whole truth of what happened to her.

"

Old friends met,

Dragging their children along.
At first stubborn,
Then shy.

Hellos were exchanged,
Nervous and excited.
Left alone to play,
Still and waiting.

The girl spoke first,
“My name is Raven.”
Then the boy,
“Mine is Angelis.”

At the age of six,
They became quick friends.
Loving each other’s company,
Inseparable from the start.

As they grew older,
Their love grew deeper.
Both afraid of what the other would say,
But dieing to tell the other what they felt.

Out of the Blue,
Angelis got terribly sick.
Fearing for his life,
Raven never left his side.

Dieing in her arms,
He finally told her.
“I don’t know what you will say,
But I love you Raven.”

With tears in her eyes,
She told him also.
“I love you too,
Forever and always.”

After that,
Death decided it was his time.
He grew cold,
And his eyes glazed over.
Refusing to leave her love,
She stayed by his side.
After a while,
She came to accept his death.

She decided that if he left her,
Then she would go with him.
She knew those who loved her would cry,
She knew the consequences.

But something stopped her,
A man with charm and compassion.
In the street,
Is where they met.

He told her,
Soft and low.
“Now what is an angel like yourself,
Doing all alone at night?”

She replied in a soft whimper,
“That isn’t your concern.
Why do you want to know,
By the way?”

That is how they met,
Raven with love anew.
With a strange man,
That Lucifer.

What she loved about that man the most,
Was his eyes.
They drew her to him,
Mesmerized her.

He fed her talk,
Noble and grand.
“I’ll never leave you,
Like your other love did.”

She believed him,
All of him.
He was strong,
He could live on with her.

After a couple years,
Raven grew frightened.
She saw shadows,
With her wherever she went.

Lucifer told her with confidence,
“Don’t worry.
No one will dare to hurt you,
Not with me at your side.”

She stayed closer and closer to him,
Shunning everyone else.
Her family thought she was a fool,
To give up her friends and family over a guy.

Raven never heard a word of it,
All she heard was “…No one would dare to hurt you…”
The lonely girl,
Wished for her old love to return.

One day,
She walked down the street with Lucifer.
He was acting strange,
Making sure that they passed all of the alleys.

He shoved her into one,
With a demonic look in his eyes.
Men from behind,
Grabbed at the poor girl.

She looked into his eyes,
His beloved eyes.
They were mutated,
Full of hatred and scorn.

He walked away,
Out of sight.
While the other men,
Had their fun.

Raven was released,
But chased like prey.
She ran to the house,
She once shared with HIM.

She ran down the hall,
Calling His name.
“You said you would always be there for me!”
But He wasn’t.

When she needed Him most,
He left her.
Staring into empty eyes,
That weren’t really there.

She came to the room,
Where so much love had been made.
She looked around,
And found a note.

Don’t look for me,
You pathetic whelp.
How could I, Lucifer,
Love such a lowly thing.

You served your purpose,
Nonetheless.
Those men paid good money,
For you.

Don’t come looking,
For I will just hurt you again.
But much worse,
So much worse…

Staring at the print,
Disbelief in her eyes.
How could one be so cruel,
To destroy someone who wanted to be dead.

She decided,
That she would end it there and then.
She pulled out a dagger,
Hidden in the dresser.

“I’ll find you, my love
My only love, Angelis.
I know you waited for me,
Up there in heaven.”

Her family found her,
Lying on the floor.
They sobbed at the sight,
Wishing to know why.

Up in the clouds,
Raven found her surrounded by warmth.
It seemed somehow,
Familiar.

“Angelis…”
She whispered softly.
He couldn’t resist,
And brought her into a deep, passionate kiss.

“I knew you would come,
Sooner or later.
You have no idea,
How I’ve missed you.

Now no one can hurt you,
Because I’m now an angel.
My wings will shield you from harm,
Especially from that man.”

“I told you before,
And I will say it again.
I love you,
Forever and always.”

There Raven stayed,
In the arms of the one she loved.
Finally,
At peace.
