What if Heaven was not enough?

What if Heaven was not enough?

A Poem by Flo

What if. . .Heaven wasn't complete?

What if. . .The after life is not what we truly seek?

What if. . .The ones we love are in hell?

What if. . .we can't let them join us as well?

How can heaven be perfect without its people being loved and in love?

Didn't god say it will be perfect up there?

Or is it better to be down there?

What if Heaven wasn't perfection?

What if We didn't want perfection?

Would god let us stay in place?

Prison us in Heaven so we don't meet other people??

Is that what Heaven will be?

Then I don't want it and I'd rather see

Myself with my friends and loved ones in hell

Than be in heaven, with nothing to love, as if locked up in a shell

Author's Note

Flo
quite random really, I was thinking about how heaven is told to be perfection....but I kept wondering, what if we didnt want it to be perfect? we are so used to have an imperfect life, so, what if heaven was a tad dull?

Oh, I'm pretty sure that Heaven will be OK. Still - you raise some interesting questions just the same. And lots of them. I enjoy questioning poems - the source of all knowledge is questioning, is it not? And in religious circles, Thomas, the doubter who was a disciple wasn't too badly told off for his questioning. As for me, I want to stay well clear of hell and i'll happily take my chances in heaven! I like this poem - somewhat tongue in cheek, alittle whimsical but with an underlying edge of real doubt. It is well formed and reads well straight from the page.
