My Escape

My Escape

A Poem by Trenton Colburn

The fright of that dark nite, keeps the scars on my arms a fading white.
the bumps on my arms, from the chill of the night keeps my bones warm come the dying light,
It's when the dark covers my errors and the moon shines low, then i can breath let my emotions show,
That is when i smile, when all the good on earth goes vile,
When its dark i can think,
let the bugs take my blood bite my skin, sting me when I've gone astray,
for i need to move forward, before the break of day
That brings others, pushing me back,
smiling and waving,
just waiting for the chance to stab my back
That will be when i turn,
I'll give them a twisted smile,
Distorting them all with make the pain worth while
I won't take their breath, that i will leave,
My words will take something more, something they won't believe
I can wait, i can wait for a while
For the love i once had has long ago gone vile.
I will watch, let their smiles stay, until MY time comes,
long before day
When no one will see, my guilt pushed away,
quietly still i will lay.
I have not killed them, for their hearts still beat,
but mine won't, I'm trapped in an everlasting sleep.
