arsenic words

arsenic words

A Poem by Kira

the feel of metal under your fingers;

tracing absently along the wrought edges of

twisted black roses, smooth marble

crystallized under a hateful stare,

refracting color through broken facets,

holding fireworks,

cold.

the scent of rain and oranges;

they dance around your thoughts like

words you can't remember, confounding

peel them apart and choke them down

douse them in sugar to hide the poison,

so hard to breathe,

cold.

the sight of a ribbon of cigarette smoke;

a glass waterfall, a tumbler of something red

disembodied laughter and houses that creak in the night

hollowed out by arsenic words

tip out a colorful mass, swallow it all down

just want to sleep,

cold.

I love Kira's work. It is always full of great imagery and raw emotions. No place I want to live, but always a great visit :)

What a deep trip into the mind... the darkness that stirs there.. that breathes out the coldest air. Your words confess such a haunted place that seeps with poison and pain.
