orbit

orbit

A Poem by Kira
"

The first sonnet I've written outside of English class.

"

Two suns blaze in the dark expanse of space

And I, one planet small, am bound between

Orbiting as though in a useless race

I am drawn to both by a force unseen

My path across the sky is infinite;

Or at least that is my own orbit's shape

In a dance so callous yet intricate

That I have no prayer of a quick escape

Both the suns take no heed of my passing

They are, of course, consumed by their own flame

And yet I am doomed to float between them

Both so different yet achingly the same

And though my path is millions of years old

It's only now to me that space feels cold.

Very nice, it made me think of a child caught between two parents. Favorite line: They are, of course, consumed by their own flame.

Deep. I like how you used the planet's point of view. Made it intimate for the reader. Well done! :D
