Hell On Lined Paper

Hell On Lined Paper

A Poem by Kira
"

Reading new poems, was inspired (seems like I'm saying I was inspired by random stuff a lot lately...)

"

There is such a thing as hell

It's written in your hand

Ink black as darkness against

The faded blue paper-lines

Burns the words into my brain

Is there such a thing as bliss anymore?

You've taken even all my memories of happiness

With those words on the page

Ink black as darkness

Like acid poured into my heart

With barely three sentences

You've brought me to my knees

(Figuratively, we're both crammed into desks

Before the bell is set to ring)

I'm trying not to cry

Kira, you're a great girl...

I don't even need to know what comes next.

But I read anyway, though my heart burns in my chest

...Maybe it would be better if we saw other people.

I will not cry.  Not in front of you.

Holding back the tears is worse than holding back the ocean.

Have you ever tried?  It's hell.

No--hell is written on white-lined paper

With ink-black script in your hand

Burning words into my brain...

_

GREAT JOB :)

A very descriptive write that chronicles something that at the moment seems like a devastating blow, but through the prism of time will one day be, unbelievably, a fond memory of youth. I especially enjoyed this line ...

"Holding back the tears is worse than holding back the ocean."

Boy did that describe the battle that the narrator was fighting at that moment. Very nice.

Extremely vivid emotion and clear imagery, I like the way the character hesitates in "It's hell./No--hell is written on white-lined paper" or maybe she changes her mind.

Very sad and heartfelt, your emotions were conveyed very well in this. I feel your pain, and anyone that breaks up with a note is an idiot XP
