Childhood Dreams

Childhood Dreams

A Poem by FleetingReveries

Sliding down rainbows.
Everything is a fairy tale,
A fantasy life.
Stories of restoring kisses,
The power of true love
Breaking terrible curses.
Poisonous apples
And jealous stepmothers,
Frogs turned to princes
A pea beneath twenty mattresses
And twenty feather beds
A pumpkin to a coach
Mice to men.

Nearing the end of the rainbow,
Things become clear.
Everything an exact formula.
A perfect science or math.
Theories proven by white coats.
Corollaries, theorems and definitions.
Hypotheses and conclusions.
Kingdom, phylum, class,
order, family, genus, species.

But what if i still believe,
In childhood fantasies?
Science and fate.
Math and destiny.
Knowledge and imagination.
These are the two extremes
Of this black and white world,
But in between black and white,
Is
gray where all other colours
Are revealed!

Beautiful written! And really gives the readers something to think about. Though provocking!

This is a good comparison of fact and fiction...the fiction is more appealing isn't it? I like this very much.
