Fleeting Desire

Fleeting Desire

A Poem by J

Forgive me if I sin,
For the Devil stirs with a cunning grin.
Seductive stars shaping my foolish eyes,
Drowning me in lavish pools of lies.

Blindly agreeing to abuse cherished time,
Unknowingly leaving a trail of grime.
Unaware of terms and conditions,
Disguised as routine and superstitions.

Imprisoned by remorse,
Powering a deprived workhorse.
Whether Tuesday night or Sunday morning,
Fiending without fair warning.

Hiding underneath, compulsion reigns supreme,
Claiming to protect from an oppressive regime.
But then, relentlessly craving a rush,
Urgently silencing all other necessities to a hush.

But now the truth is evident,
Confidently recognizing an awful experiment.
Unmasking a deceptive addiction,
Emerging from the depths of contradiction.
