Chapter 1 So This Is MeA Chapter by FelissaTrying to play hooky on the last day of school doesn't run to well when big brother is watching.
The wind blew through the trees trailing the sweet scents of nature to my nose. I was crouched with my bare hands touching the ground as I breathed in. Even with the sweet scents it didn’t over look my visible frustration. Gray eyes searched as I smelled he was near. Near and utterly annoying me. “You need to get to school.” His voice was soft but held a certain edge to it. His name, Jonathon. My pack leader and older brother. I rose to my feet and looked around searching for him. “It’s the last day, why do I need to?” “Kris don’t be difficult.” I grit my teeth and clenched my fist letting a low breath escape my mouth. So much for a wonderful day of running through the woods. I just couldn’t get him off my back for even an hour. “They’re out here Jon.”My mind reminded me of the cold rotten smelling flesh of the undead. My nose burned at the memory. It almost burned like bleach but in some cases very tolerable when you got used to each individuals scent. “I said to let me handle it Kris and another thing we don’t even know if they are staying.” His voice was calm like always making me feel like a brat. I sighed frustrated realizing I had lost this fight. “When will you trust me?”I asked him as my lean arms took hold of my back pack. “You know I trust you.” I huffed frustrated. “You have a funny way of showing it.” He didn’t reply to that at first. “I’m sorry Kristal, trust me enough to know I mean well.” His voice sounded regretful and I felt all the more angry, but the anger was more targeted towards myself. “Yeah yeah fine.” He left my mind with a soft thank you. I sighed letting my anger seep out for the moment. Maybe I’ll feel better after a run. I thought as I began to run. My feet moved across the wet leaves from the morning dew. The air was crisp and cool. Just the way I liked it. I imagined the feel of my paws on the ground and the stretch of my mussels as I ran. I almost moaned at the thought but brought myself into reality. Nope none of that. I was going to be a good girl and go to school. The woods are been replaced by light posts as I walked along the highway. I realized that my anger was still there and bubbling. Oh this was going to be a good day. My high school was much like any other, with minor differences. One of the biggest is being myself. My name is Kristal Taylor and I’m a senior in this little high school of mine. I’m over 100years old but thankfully I look only 17 or so. You see I’m a different from a few of the students in this school. I sprout fur when I want and my teeth are killer sharp. What am I? Take a guess. No luck? No surprised. I’m what you call a Lycan, a werewolf, or shape shifter whatever your word it’s what I am. It’s what I’ve been for as long as I’ve lived. Jonathan is the pack leader. He has this idea that I’m unable to defend myself so he makes me do the human stuff like go to school. Don’t get me wrong he works and so do the other pack members but that’s all they do. Me? Well I go to school take testes and graduate every 4 years or so. “You can never know too much.” He tells me every time we move and I’m in a new school, but the reality of it is because of how young I look. I’m average height and weight with slightly bigger assets then most girls. My hair drifts towards my shoulders and has some blue highlights near the tips. My skin is mocha colored much like Jonathon’s and what is our dead give away of our siblingness is our eyes. We both have these cool almost stone like colored gray eyes. Unique since everyone is Salem’s eyes are the “natural colors.” The question “Do you ware contacts?” Does happen often. I dress pretty casual in jeans, tang tops, or band shirts. I’m a fan of good old fashioned Chuck Taylors but sadly don’t ware them often because of the hassle when I phase. At school I’m known by a few kids and I talk to them every so often. I’m the only werewolf in school because the other pack members look to old. I share the school with humans of course but also a with and a few vampires. Aiden was one of the few vampires I talked to. He was a good looking dude with a somber attitude. His scent I could stand. The rest of the vampires stuck with their kind and stood in the darkened corners of the school with their thick trench coats. See in reality vampires could in fact go outside into sunlight but only for so long. They get what humans would call sun burn. The witch which was a guy was named Kegan. He and I never really talked. More like fought with each other when we came across one another. He was a fairly tall guy built lean and had a set of soft green eyes. He looked handsome I assumed but his clumsiness took it all away. I walked through the gates and up the stairs. My anger still hadn’t subsided quiet yet and I pushed open the door to the building. My nose took in various scents and I walked passed everyone. I had a feeling everyone knew I was upset because they moved up until I bumped into someone. My fingers wrapped around their shoulder and a pushed them roughly out of my way. I didn’t know who it was nor did a care. I heard the bang of the locker and a slight cry. I assumed they where glaring but I didn’t care.
