Ode to My DaughterA Poem by FlamingPhoenixWritten for my orange and green-loving daughter on the eve of her 21st birthday, while I live in a recovery home for alcoholism.
In her home stood the poetic Queen
Trapped within the walls; memories both tragic and serene Accented with the cherished magical colors orange and green With clever imagination she manifested a transformative scene Now a royal Queen in her own right Her adversities triumphed over by passionate fight Still hauntingly poisoned by ancestral and relative plight She allows a tear to fall in memory of near-death-filled nights Contemplating the choices and roads she should take Overwhelmed by the consequences if she makes a mistake A royal past that makes the heart ache Her life a journey she alone must now make
