Not Who I Am

Not Who I Am

A Poem by FlamingPhoenix
"

time to walk away--not just from one--but everyone like you...

"

On this journey of life

I have experienced strife

I have cried many tears

I have overcome many fears

I have played many games

I have felt ashamed

I have allowed parts of me to die

Yet I have continued to try

Recently I have learned a lot

About what I want and who I am not

I am done short-changing myself and giving myself away

There are just some games I no longer desire to play

From this point forward

Those in my life are going to have work toward

Earning my friendship which begins with earning my trust

I am listening to my intuition and leaving you in the dust

I've never walked away from anything FP - but I do think it is time for me to do it now, I think we need to know when our time is up and when to leave... And I think it's my turn now. Your poem just backed it all up for me. I loved it and thanks for helping me make my decision.

The above line is necessary sometimes. Some people just abuse and use and we need separation. I like the thoughts leading to the good ending. People can't change. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is fantastic. Sometimes, we just have to walk away from those who so easily and carelessly destroy us and our trust. A poem many can relate to. Great job! (:
