Breath

Breath

A Poem by scribblesandsuch

A breath I give to you,

Appreciate it.

It may be your last.

And don’t waste it

On complaints and wishes in the sky.

This breath may be your very last.

One exhalation and it’s gone.

Gone further than you or I might ever go.

Do not wait here, thinking of how to use it,

For by the time you’re finished it’s done,

And all the life that flowed through your veins,

Suddenly it’s gone.

I warned you- the words I said were clear,

But as I believe in second chances,

Have this breath here.

But don’t take it till you know exactly what to do.

I expect by the time you’ve finished,

Your face’ll be bright blue.

But don’t worry ‘bout that right now,

Your mind is occupied,

This breath is your last, so what will you do?

That’s a fine idea:

To say the words

“I love you”
