SlumpA Poem by FishHaven't done math homework for three weeks. needless to say, I've tried but my body can do nothing but give up on that subject...
We sit around the table,
dead eyes with a table-flipping "f**k this s**t" attitude. Smart students in advanced classes with too little sleep, only a few minutes of free time and a mindset that lets them forget to eat. We sit dead as each word we write is bullshit. Days fall of useless busywork from snarky teachers with us just barely pulling through. The days of my horrific, wide-eyed excitement at the thought of highschool, at the thought of learning.. What a nightmare. I think it's just me, until I look around only to see the glazed eyes and limp bodies of my fellow students, All ready to jump at the chance to quite their favorite activity and spit on its grave. Foot shaking anxiously, Exchanging constant glares w/ those who sit near, Like zombies we go through the motions, missing life as our free-time is work time and procrastination is sleep. The boy who used to laugh can barely manage a smile, the girl who works hard is at her breaking point, the dancer is injured and limp, even the girl who is always sick hasn't done her homework for three weeks. The only brain power she has left is to write this poem to simply say that she doesn't care. She's limp, cold, mean, and she doesn't care.
