![]() Loving Monsters.A Poem by Fish![]() She fell for the sun and chased it and chased it, but it killed her to know that she could not love it.. for she would always truly love the monsters of the earth.![]() Blessed is she for though' she chased the sun relentlessly, she could only, would only, love the monster lurking in the shadows. God, that sun. That warmth That will heal her wounds But make her unhappy. Unhappy that she cannot love that sun. Her heart is wrapped in chains, Oozing with everything wrong. But she loves it. She needs it. Everything that is sick, And painful, For she cannot love Save for the things that will hurt her. With love and kindness and attention How terrifying it all seems, But with hatred, brutality and ignorance… How comforting it is. Clear skin is nothing When one can have bruises, Painful links that help her forget But always remind her, Of the trials, Of the pain That is necessary To become stable In the chaos. The sun will come and go, Will light certain paths Here and there, But there is always dark. It dominates the universe And welcomes it’s tenants with open arms. A cold embrace, That devours all fear, Yet left with a frightful feeling Of being completely safe, Completely sane, It’s strange, How the most frightful of things, Are the only things that can keep us safe. How the sweetest things, Are repulsive and depressing. How we long for something we SHOULD want, But left empty in knowing that it can never be. © 2013 FishReviews
