A Haven For Misfits and the Rest of us Faceless ones

A Haven For Misfits and the Rest of us Faceless ones

A Poem by Fish
"

The day I found myself waiting for the Library doors to open at school, when there was nowhere else for me to be...

"

Somehow I found myself there.

Waiting quietly until the masses gathered.

Standing nervously amongst the hords of faceless people all crushing against the library doors.

I just another one of them, after we gained entrance, and after we dispersed I would forget their faces, and they would forget mine.

I didn't think It would be like this, with so many people finding this place to be safe.

A haven for misfits is what I've found.

Each one of us looking for nothing, but also everything.

She. She understands.

But does she?

The lock clicks and we all close our books.

We waddle to the door in giddy excitement and push each other inside.

Smiling, smiling at nothing, or rather, something?

We break into the realm and each tend to our own pleasures.

Each of us in our own Universe, yet content and moving as one system.

Completely alone in our minds but a close-knit community in body.

Some write, some search, some read, some sing, but all at once we all discover.

Have you ever noticed?

Have you ever rushed into there and felt that strong connection with people you would not remember?

Have you ever really looked?

The people who walk by you, do you see?

Be like me and sit back and view.

Each person, finding a reason to be in the library,

Each person, a reason for this being their haven,

Each person, is a someone who is important to another someone.

Each one of these faceless beings that pass by you constantly.

Do you stop?

Do you notice?

The people you do not see,

can you spot their changes?

can you decide what they like and dislike?

The people you do not see,

the people without faces.

Have you ever noticed?

Each person has a story.

Who like to discover other stories,

about heroes and villains,

all who were faceless once too.

But they are recognized by those in reality who are also faceless.

While you whose face is miraculous and noticed instantly, you don't care.

But those of us who are faceless, without words or actions, we all silently know.

We may be alone, but we are one.

We may not speak,

but it is common knowledge amongst us faceless ones.

The faceless will recognize the faceless, and never let one another down.

I had no idea you were in a library. I thought you were being led into a subway public bathroom and couldn't remember how you got there. When I read that everyone closed their book, I was like, "Eww!! lol Why are there hands holding books? It's not clean in there!" I read it again and find all the words you wrote, to be the reason why MOST of us find solace and adventure in our stories we cling to. It's such a personal experience and a lot of fun when someone WE enjoy connects with it also.... a secret club of sorts!! After reading it a second time, I found on a much more personal level, how clever this poem was writing ITSELF. Well done...... Beautiful FishForTheMoon. KTF xoxo -Mark
