Suffocate

Suffocate

A Poem by Firequeen

The air grows more and more stale by the minute
It gets harder to breathe every second
I can feel your presence pushing down on me
Always there lurking and waiting
to see what my next move will be
calculating what your counter move will be
My body cringes at the thought of you
My mind suffocating on your words
my hands roll into fists
ready for this fight
Let me live a life without your
constant barrage of suspicion
Let me go, let me breathe
Can't I have even a moments peace
A second to myself
A life without you is what I dream of
