Military Brat

Military brat
this is what they call us
but do they really know
all that we know
do they know what its like
to watch your father,
brother, mother, sister go off to war?
Have they seen the tears in their mothers eyes
as she says good-bye to her husband
Have they felt the fear of possibly
never seeing them again
Have they seen them kissed the soil
and thanked god they made it home
to their family in one piece
Have they seen the sorrow in their eyes
after seeing what they have seen
These men, woman and our children 
sacrifice themselves and their lives everyday
so we can live our lives with freedom
All of this is what makes me 
proud to be called
A military brat

I effing love this. I don't know how it feels but I'm the first generation military in my family. Going Marines, and I hope to never put my future kids through this. Maybe they'd be stronger for it, but it'd be too hard for me to do.
