Yesterday

Yesterday

A Poem by Andrea

Maybe we could be better than yesterday.
The book is still being written but the pages are blank.
Maybe we could be like yesterday,
when everything didn't feel so fake.
Years have passed since we first met.
You're the only one for me,
it's not like I could forget.
I remember the first time I had dreamt.
It was like a forest,
in a world I awoke but
I never slept.
I kept on hope that you'd read
in between the lines.
When there is years between us,
it's like I'm not alive.
To you, I don't even exist.
When I ask a question,
I don't even get a response.
The only thing I hear is silence.
I look to the moon, the solar eclipse.
But there's no more hoping
that could change you.
There's no more wishing,
in this type of virtue.
When we were like the sun of the Earth,
we were bound to make it work.
There is love in this core,
an eruption of hell.
But we're no secret,
can't you tell?
When you wake up, I want you to be like yesterday.
When everything was clear, and the skies were not gray.
Can we be like yesterday?
Remember you held me
like I was new?
Can we be like yesterday?
Where your heart was my escape.
I didn't need poison and
I didn't contemplate.
Maybe we could be better off than yesterday..
when the orange and pink filled above,
when the only thing I could feel, was your love.
Let's be better off than yesterday.
