An Artist's Love

An Artist's Love

A Poem by Andrea

What was once there before, had changed.
Something in your heart melted.
Your porcelain heart was destroyed.
I didn't mean for you to break.
What we once had, became nothing.
You put your heart on the shelf.
It was clearly up for sale.
I had taken advantage of your vulnerability.
I had taken advantage of your wealth.
Not of your richness, but your wealth of kindness.
Who knew I was to be blinded?
I didn't want to believe I fell for you just the same.
The kiln, the boiling fire, the burning steam.
You made me slowly believe.
I didn't want to think you were just another artist.
But you were the type of artist to twist and tie my heart onto a paper.
I was just a sleeve to write on.
We painted pictures that matched.
We were artists together.
The paintbrush to the canvas.
The pencil to the paper.
How long will it have lasted before it was all washed away into the past?
The dim light of the sunset faded with our memories.
We were nothing more. The artist became nothing.
The artist was nothing without His imagination.
And I... I was nothing without Him.

Awe, I like this poem a lot. You make the reader feel the emotions almost the way in which you yourself experienced them . Great job!
