Your Hold Is Fading

Your Hold Is Fading

A Poem by Jessica
"

This is a free verse poem I recently wrote. It's mostly about how my ex has been ruining my life lately and I'm tearing myself away.

"
Poor thing, poor thing
In my head, I hear your voice
Laughing
Telling me how weak I am
You may be right
I am not in the situation to prove you wrong
I will regain my strength
I will restore my mind
Will things ever be the same?
It isn't likely
The one good change with this,
With wounds come experience
And boy I have the scars to prove it
Who the hell do you think you are
To put me down like you have
You have no hold on me anymore
I am not afraid

It's a wonderful feeling to break free of a hold someone had on your mind or heart, and I think you wrote about it very well. There's a sense of vulnerability, and then the feeling of being yourself again.
I loved it.
