Grace and Charity

Grace and Charity

A Poem by Jack E.
"

More or less about being in love with a ghost.

"

I never understood you
Until I saw the ocean
Curling and peeling away
Against the shore
Like an indecisive lover

You're so incandescent
Amenable and unwilling
Your chest rises
With the sighs from my lips
Crooked and inviting

You're a thunderstorm
Unrelenting and sent
From summer's invite
Rolling thunder cries
Under your thighs
And still my ants go marching

Like a frying pan
You scramble my brains
Pick them up
Piece me together
I'm such a jigsaw for you
I'm so lost for you

You walk through walls
With grace and charity
Throw the chairs
We're gonna dance tonight

You're like a hot shower
Rushing and biting
I bled for you
I sweat you out again
Then start right over

You're the sting of bourbon
Reminding and tiresome
I could never forget
They could never know
I still remember the way you taste

You're like the deer
Standing naked in the light
My tires will skid
And we'll crash again
Flipping towards the sun

You walk through walls
With grace and charity
Throw the chairs
We're gonna dance tonight

You're the metaphysics
Lead into gold
Fire in the sky
Water in my eyes
Blood diamond in the dirt

You have such grace
But you trip on purpose
Candlelight on your face
Rosebuds on your tongue
You're my ghost

We're as dead as history
But I've always preferred arithmetic
A guaranteed answer
You could never explain
We're so divided

You walk through walls
With grace and charity
Throw the chairs
We're gonna dance tonight

This is an awesome poem. Just the forebodeness of an ocean, the division, the arhitmetic, and dance really takes me aback, great write! Jack E.! -----mishel
