The one that got away

Have you ever felt like there is that special someone in your life who you give your heart to- probably your crush, but you get nothing in return and you end up desperate for their love and attention?

You and me, and never us,

a complicated series of almost interactions.

Long lingered a doubtful hope,

of rekindling a flame filled with passion.

Desire fluorished as distance accrued,

wished i could get amnesia.

My every breath, reminded me of you,

and kept drowning me in hoplessness.

T'was fine to watch you from a distance,

but the changes in me were too hard to bear,

and i knew you wouldn't even dare.

I wish you could see how much i hope for us,

us that disappear everytime you come near.

Every feature of you god made so perfect,

adding on to my insecurity each day.

The mere sight of you brought utmost pleasure,

nothing that a pure heart would expect.

If only by you, i am asked a favor,

i'd be the slave that never mattered.

This fragile heart was afraid to approach you,

what if your one word it could break.

My soul would never stop weeping, waiting,

for the day you'll be within my arms.

And the day, you and me, become us,

is the day this distance will stop killing me,

and i'll become the joy that annoyed the world.
